The name "Ilaya” is commonly used in archipelagos around the world. It means "the one who lives near the sea" or "from the seaside.” It reflects a connection to the ocean or coastal areas and carries a sense of tranquility, strength, and a deep appreciation for the beauty and power of the sea.
What we do
Each design begins in the quiet of a traveler’s notebook, where sketches are born from the fluidity of movement, the stillness of a landscape, or the simplicity of a moment. These early concepts wait for the perfect fabric to emerge.
We source our materials with care, from local collection houses that share our commitment to ethical craftsmanship, and from some of the finest mills in Italy and France. Every textile has its own rhythm — a tactile story we know will shape the final design.
When the right fabric is found, we return to the notebook. It’s in this moment of connection — fabric to design — that our work begins to take form. From there, we drape, pattern, and refine, elevating each piece until it becomes a perfect fit.
The result is a collection that transcends trend, defined by a fit that feels natural, effortless, and timeless.
